Fix the trains?

I need to blog this down cos' I find it really amusing.

Yesterday, Jaden and I were watching the news and it was showing the news of how SMRT will be enhancing its maintenance regime and blah blah blah. Then, Jaden suddenly looked at me and said, "Mummy, I want to fix the trains."

I said "What?" He said the same liner again. I'm so surprised! I don't remember teaching him the word "fix" and was wondering where he has learned the word. On second thoughts, I thought, perhaps Jaden has meant "sit the trains"? Well, try pronouncing "fix" and "sit" several times and somehow they do seem to sound a bit similar :P

Then, during the news today, there was reports about trains again. Yup, there was a blackout today. Jaden said something to the effect "get trains fixed". Now, surely, he meant "fix" and not "sit" this time round cos' it doesn't sound right to say "get trains sit".

Ha, I wonder how he knew about the recent train issues that Singapore is facing. I don't think current affairs are part of the Nursery curriculum :P Hee hee. Think it is time to get him Thomas the Train set.

Balloons

Lynette's balloons. She gave Jaden the Minnie mouse balloon and kept the Mickey one for herself. Yup, that's right. She prefers Mickey over Minnie :)

On a side note, balloons are expensive nowadays. The above balloons cost more than 50 bucks. I sure hope they last long enough.

Yiyi's gift for Lynette.

Lynette's 2nd birthday

Lynette celebrated her 2nd birthday at the childcare centre this year. At first, I though it would be a fairly stress-free event except that I couldn't get the cake that Lynette wanted. She wanted a Dora cake but alas, Prima Deli, the authorised bakery for Dora cakes, said that their printing machine was out of order and hence, no Dora cakes till further notice.
The heros that saved the cake!
So luckily, I managed to get Dora cake toppers and at least, it was a 'semi-Dora' cake. What's more, Lynette will get to keep the figurines as well.
Goodie bags for the kids. Ha.. I tried my best to get all pink items.

It's time to sing the birthday song and blow out the candles. Happy Birthday, Lynette!
Lynette looked serious here cos' she thought that she would not be getting a goodie bag. Hee hee...

$30 balls

Can you believe it? These two balls cost us $30 bucks!!

We went Toy r Us last weekend and the two kids were pestering us for the balls. I took a quick glance and saw that the ball costs $4.95 each.. Hmm, still reasonable so we got them a ball each.

It was only when we went home and I realised that we have been charged $14.95 per ball!!! As the ball was of quite good quality, we thought maybe that is why they cost almost $15 each.

Guess what I just found online. The Toy r Us website showed that the ball costs only $4.95 each. Arghh :( so we were indeed overcharged! Sigh, but there is nothing I can do now as I have thrown the receipt away already.

Lesson learned - Always check the receipt before leaving the cashier.
